Diamond Drilling Services by Kingstar in the UK
Drilling very neat, clean holes through all types of mass and reinforced
concrete, brickwork and block work. A quiet and efficient, non-vibratory way of forming
holes and slots - particularly if the prevention of noise and spalling is important.
There are two kinds of diamond drilling, wet drilling and dry drilling.
In both cases precise holes can be drilled through base materials
including reinforced concrete, mass concrete, masonry, brick and block work.
In the case of wet drilling we have the facility for water control should this be required.
Diamond drilling techniques are used when precise, circular cuts are needed. Holes of
almost any diameter from 6mm for items such as anchor bolts up to 1.5m
for pipework are easily drilled. Most holes are drilled to make openings for plumbing,
electrical and HVAC, installations.
Diamond drilling is also commonly used for drilling holes to route
cables or place
anchoring bolts, to install load carrying devices or dowel bars, or for analysis of
structures, rock or strata.
For drilling large holes, or when the size or shape of holes to be
drilled is unusual, a technique known as stitch drilling is employed.
With stitch drilling, holes are drilled next to each other to form an opening.
Typically stitch drilling is used to make holes greater than 1 metre in diameter.
There are different motor options to suit the range of
drilling rig
configurations and motors of various sizes can be attached to
different types of rigs. These are powered by air, electricity,
petrol and diesel. For drilling cores up to 250mm diameter, a typical
configuration would be an electric motor driving a static column.
Hydraulic motors are normally used for drilling larger holes as these possesses
the torque needed to turn the drill at the correct drilling speed.
